Who Does What Within Open Studio
The Vermont Crafts Council Board and Staff
The Vermont Crafts Council has a staff of one and a board of seven. These people help to produce the map/guide, organize the Open Studio Seminar, help with distribution of Open Studio materials.
We do general advertising and promotion for Open Studio Weekend.
After the map has been produced we create local groups and recruit Local Coordinators and information centers.
Local Coordinators
These are volunteer leaders in a local area who pick up maps, posters, and signs for local participants. In addition, depending on the local group and how active individuals want to be, they may organize a local meeting at which the following tasks can be delegated.
April 2 2009 - I am recruiting regional coordinators. If you want to volunteer, e-mail me at vt1crafts@aol.com.
Information Centers
These are mostly galleries who are willing to distribute Vermont Studio Tour Guides and to provide information to visitors about the tour. The best of them will become full partners in promoting the tour with area participants.
Local Participants
Individuals who participate in Open Studio Weekend agree to open their studios and be on hand from 10 - 5 both Saturday and Sunday. They present a safe and clean studio environment that has an educational component intended to inform the public about the process and motivation of their work. They may or may not coordinate with others in the local area to co-promote the tour but we expect all participants to do some promotion of their own studio.
